Group Lessons

We are an English facility with a focus on safety and all round horsemanship. We have a wide variety of students both in age and experience.  Our desire is to provide a friendly barn where everyone feels welcome and able to participate and learn.

Our lessons are based on a one hour supervised time period. They include the care, grooming and tacking up of the horse and understanding that horse care includes pen cleaning  .  All students (over 10 years old) begin with three INTRODUCTION TO KAIZEN FARM lessons, to be evaluated and also to know where things are and what is expected.

After the INTRODUCTORY PACKAGE has been completed, students may continue in our INTRO 8 which is an 8 week follow on. From there they will join an appropriate GROUP (as and when space is available).

The GROUP lessons are riding instruction (with horse and barn care before and after), in a group of 3 to 5 riders of similar experience. The group program allows riders to reserve a place on an appointed day of the week for 4 weeks each month. We work at the knowledge level of each group on dressage, jumping, riding in the open and fun stuff such as games.  We also offer 3 student shows per year in jumping, dressage, and games for those in our regular program.  See the photos on FaceBook to see how much they are enjoyed.

For children aged 6 to 10 we have the SHORT BOOTS program. This is an age appropriate lesson program to ensure a safe introduction to horses, riding and the social aspect of the barn. We do not expect the same level of commitment and parents reserve a spot for their child on a week to week basis for just one month ahead.  Once skills are achieved and sufficient maturity is demonstrated, we will advise when children may advance to our GROUP lessons.

For children younger than 6 we can offer what we call a LEADLINE lesson.  This is a ride around the property with the pony kept on a line and led by one person.  This is a very enjoyable introduction to ponies for the younger children and is kept age appropriate for their safety and limited attention span.
